Everton are ready to offer Romelu Lukaku double his wages in a bid to ward off interest from rival
clubs this summer, according to ESPN.
Lukaku, 23, has regularly hinted he could leave Goodison Park this summer in search of Champions League football and has already been linked with Manchester United and a return to Chelsea.
Everton shattered their club transfer record to bring Lukaku to the club from Chelsea in a £28m deal in 2014 and the Belgium international has developed into a key player for their team.
Following new investment to the club, Everton are now prepared to double his wages in an attempt to quash rumours of his exit this summer.
Since August 2013 – when Lukaku joined Everton on loan – only Harry Kane (32) and Sergio Aguero (37) have scored more clear-cut chances in the Premier League than Lukaku (30).
