We didn’t respect Van Gaal’s game plan-Fellaini

Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini believes his side didn’t respect Louis Van Gaal’s game
plan after their 2-0 Europa League defeat to Liverpool.
Speaking to UEFA.com in the aftermath of their defeat, which former Manchester United  midfield Paul Scholes labelled shambolic, the Belgian attacker felt they didn’t follow the Dutchman’s game plan.
“I think the first half, we didn’t respect the game plan of the manager, so it was difficult for us. The second-half we did well, we did better, had more possession, tried to create chances but tonight we didn’t do enough to score a goal. -
United were a goal down inside 20 minutes with Daniel Sturridge converting a penalty and Roberto Firmino took advantage of Michael Carrick’s lackadaisical defending to make it 2-0 with 17 minutes remaining. But it could have been a lot worse if not for David De Gea who denied Philippe Coutinho twice, Sturridge and Nathaniel Clyne to give United hope going into the second leg. It just emphasised what everybody already knew about the Spanish goalkeeper said Fellaini.
“We know, everyone knows the quality of David. He kept us in the game a few times. He did well tonight. But now we have to focus on the next game. WE have a big game against West Ham. So we will continue. We have to work had now and try to win Sunday. We have a second chance to win against Liverpool at Old Trafford. It is possible. We can score two goals. We did it before, so I think it will a great to see the next game.”
Fellaini threw a left elbow into the jaw of Emre Can (watch below) in the dying moments of the game and UEFA could issue a red card retrospectively if they deem there was cause.
