Sir Alex Ferguson accepts Jose Mourinho as new Man Utd boss – report

Sir Alex Ferguson has given up in his efforts to promote Ryan Giggs as the leading candidate to take over at Manchester United this summer, paving the way for Jose Mourinho to step in, according to reports.

Ferguson is believed to have been keen for Giggs to be given the chance to take over from Louis van Gaal in the summer, with the Dutchman tipped to leave the club at the end of the season despite his contract being due to expire next year.
However, the Manchester Evening News is now reporting that the former Red Devils boss has had a change of heart about Giggs’ suitability for the role, and that Mourinho is increasingly confident of being name the new United manager this summer.
The Portuguese coach has been hotly tipped as the leading candidate to take over at Old Trafford should Van Gaal leave the club in the summer.
Mourinho has been linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs since his sacking by Chelsea back in December.
