Diego Forlan has urged Manchester United to appoint Jose Mourinho as the club’s next manager in the summer.
Louis van Gaal’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent weeks following United’s stuttering form all season.Van Gaal’s situation was once again thrown into the spotlight this weekend after his side were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Tottenham on Sunday to severely dent their hopes of finishing in the top four.
Mourinho has long been touted as a possible successor to Van Gaal at United ever since he was sacked by Chelsea back in December.
And former United striker Forlan would like to see the Portuguese coach appointed as the club’s new manager this summer.
Speaking exclusively to 888sport, Forlan said: “I think with what they have gone through in the past two years United would be better to have a coach with Mourinho’s experience.”
United are currently preparing for their FA Cup quarter-final replay clash against West Ham United at Upton Park on Wednesday night. A semi-final date at Wembley against Everton awaits the winners.
