Yorke: Man Utd's Senior Players Haven't Performed For LVG - Except £200k-A-Wk Star

Former Manchester United forward Dwight Yorke has said that he would “dread to think” where
the club would be without David De Gea.
The Spanish goalkeeper has made some superb stops across his 25 league appearances this season, with United hugely grateful that De Gea’s proposed move to Real Madrid fell through last summer.
He was set to join Los Blancos on transfer deadline day, but a delay in the paperwork resulted in him staying in England, and soon after signing a new £200,000-per-week contract (via the Daily Mail).
United are still active in the Europa League and the FA Cup this season, but they have been on the receiving end of some hugely disappointing defeats, which has led to speculation about the future of manager Louis van Gaal.
Yorke, speaking exclusively to 888sport, said: “It isn’t good enough what is happening at the football club and we can point the finger at the manager most of the time but the reality is that the players aren’t performing or doing anything significant.

“It is just not Manchester United. Bar the young players such as [Anthony] Martial I think the so-called stars, the senior players really haven’t performed.
“De Gea has been outstanding for two or three seasons and without him I dread to think what position Manchester United would be in. He has been consistent but the rest… in Fergie’s days they would all be told they’re leaving the club.
“When the senior players are playing well they tend to drag the rest along with them and they’re not doing that.”
De Gea, who is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in world football, is excellent at commanding his penalty area, while he also possesses tremendous reflexes.
The 25-year-old will be seeking to keep a clean sheet on Thursday as United attempt to overturn a 2-0 deficit when they face rivals Liverpool in the second leg of their Europa League encounter.
In the first leg, De Gea made more saves (six) than he has in any other game across all competitions this season.
