Red Devils near 1000 Premier League goals

 Manchester United are only two goals short of becoming the first club to score 1000 goals at home in the

Premier League.

Following United’s 3-2 victory against Arsenal on Sunday, the Red Devils have taken their goal tally to 998 goals from 456 home games. Louis van Gaal’s side will be looking to achieve the milestone on Wednesday night, when they face Watford at Old Trafford. 

United have been goal shy in 2015/16, having managed just 18 goals in 13 home games so far. It works out as 1.38 goals-per-game for United in home games this season, compared to 1.33 goals-per-game record in the Premier League this term. 

In the Premier League era, Wayne Rooney holds the distinction of scoring most home goals by a United player. The Reds skipper has scored 99 times in 181 games at Old Trafford, but he will have to wait for his 100th goal, as he is currently out injured. 

Arsenal are just behind United with 911 goals in 456 games, while Liverpool have scored 864 goals in 455 matches.
