Manchester United have put contract talks for Michael Carrick on hold
until they can clarify their managerial
situation ahead of next season, Mirror reports.
The 34-year-old is keen to continue his stay at Old Trafford after rejecting a mega money move to join a club in the Chinese Super League.
Carrick revealed that he is yet to open talks with United in regards to his future and may now have to wait even longer until the issue can be resolved.
The board are said to let their manager decide whether or not to keep hold of the midfielder or not, but it is still unsure who that would be following doubts over manager Louis van Gaal’s current role.
Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has emerged as the favourite to take over in the summer amid speculation that a pre-contract agreement has already been signed.
The midfield veteran has already featured 33 times in all competitions for his side this term and has so far only managed to register one assist.
