Premier League leaders Leicester City have announced annual pre-tax profits of £26.4 million for the year
ending May 2015 -- the most financially successful year in their recent history.
The club revealed news of the profit just a year after making a loss of £20.8m.
The results were driven by their return to the Premier League under Nigel Pearson for the 2014-15 season, which ended in a successful battle to avoid relegation.
But they can expect them to be dwarfed next year if they win the title or finish the campaign with qualification for the Champions League.
Their return to the top flight saw home crowds rise to an average of 31,693 -- 6,000 up from the season before.
Leicester chief executive Susan Whelan told the club's official website: "Our long-term goals for Leicester City have always been to ensure success, stability and sustainability for the club.
"Premier League football, and the on and off-pitch benefits that are associated with it, are obviously central to that plan, which made prudent investment essential to ensure top-flight status was achieved and then retained."
She said the King Power Stadium club were now "in a very strong position to move forward" and added: "We know what the club is capable of.
"We will work with diligence and purpose to ensure that Leicester City achieve success, stability and be a proud representative of its community and city."
