ROMAN ABRAMOVICH has confirmed Antonio Conte will be the next Chelsea manager, according to
reports in Italy.
Corriere dello Sport revealed on their front page this morning that a deal for Conte has been done.
They claim mega-rich Abramovich announced the news to players at the Cobham training ground on February 26.
Conte has forged a good reputation as manager of the Italian national team and he’s set to move after Euro 2016.
Abramovich made the announcement on the eve of their clash with Southampton.
Chelsea went on to win the game 2-1 and followed that by beating Norwich by the same scoreline on Tuesday night.
The report adds that Abramovich was also interested in Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone before the move fell through.
Conte is expected to take charge at Stamford Bridge on a three-year deal in the summer.
He will take over from interim-boss Guus Hiddink.
And according to TransferMarketWeb, Conte has agreed a plan of action with Chelsea chiefs and told them to land Paris St-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi.
The France international is under contract at PSG until 2018 but it's claimed he could seek a move this summer with the French champions looking for around £21m.
Chelsea have room to strengthen their midfield options after selling Ramires to Chinese side Jiangsu Suning for £25m in January.
