On Ibrahimovic moving to United, Mata said: “I don’t decide that, he
decides that and the club decides that,
but obviously I think that every player would be happy to play with him.
He could yet face a reunion with
Jose Mourinho at United, having worked with him at Inter Milan in the
2008/09 season, netting 25 Serie A goals under the ex-Chelsea boss.
but obviously I think that every player would be happy to play with him.
“I don’t know what he’s going to do. I don’t know if he’ll
finish his contract at the end of this season with PSG and if he’s
going to stay there or not.
“Maybe he’ll try a new chapter in his long career.
“Obviously he’s a very good player and I like to play with very good players.”
United are set for a busy summer in the transfer market as they aim to establish themselves as title contenders once again.
The future of manager Louis van Gaal remains in the balance, although
his uncertain position may not deter Ibrahimovic from a United deal.
Old
Trafford isn’t the only destination the former Barcelona forward has
been linked with though, as United face competition for his signature.
Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham are all reportedly interested in signing the big frontman this summer.
Meanwhile, Mata is hoping to sort his own future out. The 27-year-old is said to have requested a new deal at United, although he still has two years left on his current contract.
