Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has two midfielders on his watchlist

Antonio Conte has yet to be confirmed as the new Chelsea manager.
And yet the back page of the Times on Tuesday details how the Italian boss intends to shake up the Chelsea
squad this summer.

Conte is expected to take over from Guus Hiddink after the Azzurri complete their participation in this summers European Championships.
However Conte has begun planning for Stamford Bridge already. And his focus seems to be in midfield.
While Chelsea fans may be thinking their defence and attack are in greater need of refurbishment, Conte is looking at Roma’s Miralem Pjanic and Radja Nainggolan as two possible targets.
On those players, the Times report:
Chelsea have been following Pjanic since his time at Lyons and came close to signing him when Carlo Ancelotti was the club’s manager five years ago.
Conte has also mentioned Radja Nainggolan, a box-to-box midfielder also at Roma, as he seeks to demonstrate to the Chelsea hierarchy that he would be capable of overhauling their squad at the same time as continuing with Italy’s preparations for this summer’s European Championship.
The article also discusses just how close Conte is to wrapping up his deal with the Blues.
The broadsheet notes that “Conte has yet to meet Abramovich, with Chelsea’s negotiating team being led by Marina Granovskaia, the club director, but he is using an agent based in Monaco — Federico Pastorello — as an intermediary so a meeting with the Russian on his yacht in Monte Carlo is on the cards.”
