Guardiola to beat Klopp to the signing of 23-yr-old, deal nearly done

Manchester City are set to beat Liverpool to the signing of Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter
Stegen, who is believed to be keen to link up with Pep Guardiola.
Ter Stegen has had to make do with playing second fiddle to Claudio Bravo at the Nou Camp this season, featuring just four times in La Liga despite failing to miss a single minute of the Catalans’ Champions League endeavours.
The Germany international finally got fed up with his place on the substitutes bench earlier this month though with reports emerging that he wanted to leave Barca; speculation which he fuelled when he was evidently uneasy when asked about his future.
“Obviously I also have personal goals. The coach decides the way he decides, I guess he has his reasons to do so. But we will see how this goes on in the future,” he said this week, as quoted the Daily Mail.
And despite it looking like Liverpool were in the driver’s seat to seal the signing of the 23-year-old shotstopper, it has now emerged that Manchester City are on the cusp of agreeing a deal which would see him contest the No.1 jersey with Joe Hart from next season onwards, as reported by the Telegraph.
Capital One Cup-final hero Willy Caballero will be allowed to leave the Etihad in the summer with City prepared to pay somewhere in the region of £20 million to draft in the Barcelona shot-stopper.
It is one of the first signs of the incoming Guardiola influence which is about to storm the Premier League, with a number of stars from across Europe potentially on their way to England to work under the instrumental coach.
It comes as a bitter blow to the Reds though, who are in the market for a goalkeeper despite recently handing opinion-splitting Simon Mignolet a new five-and-a-half-year deal at Anfield.
