Dele Alli has little bit of devilment in him --- Redknapp

Former Tottenham boss admits Dele Alli was wrong to react to Claudio Yacob’s wind-up tactics in
Monday’s draw with West Brom, but insists the starlet’s ‘devilment’ is a positive part of his game.
Alli began the evening collecting his PFA Young Player of the Year award in front of Spurs fans, but let himself down as he swung a ‘punch’ at the Baggies midfielder later on in the high-stakes match.
Yacob had been at Alli’s heels for most of the evening and the 20-year-old snapped, aiming a punch to the South American's midriff. He could now face a three-match ban for violent conduct, if the incident is brought to review.
A ban of that length would rule the starlet out of the rest of Spurs’ season, which is now set to end trophyless after the 1-1 draw effectively ended their pursuit of Premier League leaders Leicester.
It was a moment of petulance to mar what has been a brilliant breakthrough for Alli, but ex-boss Redknapp has given his backing to the young England star.
“He’s got that little bit of devilment in him, which I like to be honest,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
“I don’t want to see him throwing punches, obviously, but he’s not just a good footballer.
“He’s not a lad who people are going to kick out of the game and be aggressive with. He comes back at you. He can hand it out as well as take it.
“But he’s overreacted to Yacob, and you can’t do that. Yacob is a yellow card man every week and he’s going to have all the tricks in the book.
“Certainly Yacob would have come out with the intention to wind him up, to get in his face, to be niggly with him all game, and obviously the kid has bought it and reacted.
“But it’s all part of his learning. He’s only a baby still, he’s a fantastic talent and I love watching him.”
