Speaking
about Memphis Depay, Wayne Rooney, who has been out of action since his
injury in February
told ITV, “He (Depay) will be pleased to start. He’s
had a stop-start season for Manchester United. This is a chance to show
the quality he’s got.”
When asked about
Daley Blind, another Manchester United teammate of his, the England
international said, “He’s a very good reader of the game. He will be the
first to tell you he’s not the quickest, but his reading of the game
makes up for that.”
“He’s excellent with the ball,” Rooney added.
Blind
arrived at Old Trafford in 2014 from the Dutch giants Ajax. The
Manchester club shelled out a transfer fee of 13.8 million pounds for
the 26-year-old central defensive midfielder who was named the Dutch
Footballer of the Year back in 2013-14.
Since his arrival in England, Blind has started in 50 league games for the Red Devils and has found the back of the net thrice.
Meanwhile,
the Three Lions slumped to a defeat at the hands of Holland despite
leading 1-0 at half-time. Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy had put
England in front in the 41st minute of the game. However, Vincent
Janssen and Luciano Narsingh scored the goals for the Oranje to hand
them a memorable victory.
