Rafa Benitez agrees 3-year-deal to manage Newcastle

Newcastle have agreed a three-year-deal with Rafa Benitez to succeed Steve McClaren, according to
Spanish radio station Cadena Copa.
They are usually accurate in their reporting on football news and we suspect most Newcastle fans would be happy with this appointment.
All signs point to Benitez being in charge for Monday’s game at Leicester, as Newcastle look to take some unlikely points from the Premier League leaders.
Widespread reports on Thursday confirm that McClaren held phone talks with his Newcastle bosses on Wednesday but no resolution was found to his current predicament.
McClaren has struggled as Newcastle boss and and the Toon sit second bottom in the Premier League table, in what is looking like a battle between three teams for the two remaining spots for the drop.
On Sunday week, Newcastle face Sunderland at home in what is an enormous Tyne-Wear derby for both sides.
Benitez was sacked by Real Madrid earlier this season but the 55-year-old would bring a huge amount of experience to Newcastle.
Reports in the English press on Thursday suggest that Benitez wants assurances from Newcastle before deciding on the move, but Cadena Cope, as can be seen on the Tweet below, believe the deal is already done.
