WAYNE ROONEY will reportedly seek assurances from Jose Mourinho that his first-team place at Manchester United is safe this summer.
The Old Trafford captain is currently out injured with a knee problem and should return in mid-April.
Mourinho, meanwhile, is favourite to succeed manager Louis van Gaal if the Dutchman leaves United this summer.
According to the claims, Rooney wants a guarantee that he will be part of former Chelsea boss Mourinho's first-team plans.
Mourinho, 53, has been out of work since being sacked by Premier League champions Chelsea in December.
Football in China has received major investment from the country's government and their transfer record was broken four times during the inter transfer window.
It is claimed Mourinho is an admirer of Rooney but that in itself does not guarantee the Three Lions captain a starting berth under the Portuguese mastermind.
