Manchester United have
been handed a big boost with Louis van Gaal confirming Matteo
Darmian, Anthony Martial and Chris Smalling could all face Watford this week.
The Red Devils have been crippled by injuries in recent weeks, which forced Van Gaal to give three players their debuts in the crunch-clash with Arsenal on the weekend.
It brought the best out of some of his younger stars, but Van Gaal will have certainly been wanting his main men to return to full fitness.
Martial has been out since suffering a hamstring problem during the warm-up in a recent match, while Darmian injured his shoulder in the loss with Sunderland a few weeks ago.
Smalling has also been struggling with a problem, but it seems all three could face Watford in United’s next league game on Wednesday night at Old Trafford.
“Players are coming back,” Van Gaal said when asked about the players at his pre-match press conference. “It is positive.”
Manchester United won three games in the space of six days last week across three different competitions and will be hoping their good form continues against the Hornets.
They are currently fifth in the top-flight and with confidence
booming, gatecrashing the top four this season does not seem entirely
out of the question despite their prior woes under Van Gaal this
campaign.
