Confirmed: Arsenal defender set to join Sunderland

The former Arsenal defender, who is a free agent after leaving Galatasaray, has been training with the Black
Cats for the last three weeks.
Eboue played 90 minutes for Sunderland Under-21’s against Leicester on Monday and manager Allardyce has confirmed that he is set to hand the Ivory Coast international a short-term deal after Under-21s coach Andy Welsh gave him a glowing assessment.
Speaking to Sky Sports News on Thursday, Allardyce said a deal for Eboue had been agreed and that it should be announced before the weekend.

Sunderland have two spaces in their 25-man Premier League squad and Eboue would offer an option at right-back in a position that the club are struggling in, with Billy Jones and DeAndre Yedlin the current options.
“I was talking to him and he was saying that’s the first 90 minutes he’s had in more than a year,” Welsh added. “He showed a good attitude and he looked better as the game wore on. He found his feet.
“He’s been good around the dressing room with the younger players, helping them, so I’ve got no complaints.”
Eboue spent six years at Arsenal from 2005 to 2011, making 214 appearances in total, before joining Galatasaray for £2.5million.
