Roy Keane: Why Arsenal impressed me against Barcelona

Roy Keane has defended Arsenal’s desire to attack in Tuesday night’s 2-0 loss to Barcelona at The Emirates.

Arsene Wenger was unhappy with his players in his post-match media conference after the Gunners manager admitted his players lost their defensive discipline when the hosts appeared to have Barcelona on the ropes.

The north London side managed to keep the holders out for 71 minutes before Neymar and Luis Suarez combined on the break and Lionel Messi clinically finished a sweeping Barcelona counter-attack.
The Argentina international added a second from the penalty spot to secure a 2-0 lead in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash.
Speaking to ITV Sport on Wednesday night, Keane insisted Arsenal shouldn’t be criticised for having a go at home.
“You’d expect that [attacking football] from Arsenal. They’re a big club,” Keane said.
“Arsene Wenger made some good points in terms of leaving yourself open. But it should be in Arsenal’s DNA to win football matches.
“They got punished by great players. Arsenal did a lot of good things. I wouldn’t be too harsh on Arsenal, I know I’ve been critical of them over the years. I was impressed with Arsenal last night.”
Arsenal make the return trip to Camp Nou to face Barcelona on 16 March.
The Gunners face Manchester United, Swansea City, Tottenham Hotspur and Hull City before their game against Barcelona.
