Danny Mills: Why Tottenham will win Premier League title

 Danny Mills is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to win their first Premier League title this season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are in second place in the Premier League table and two points behind leaders Leicester City after their 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Tottenham have won their last five Premier League games thanks to victories over Sunderland, Norwich City, Crystal Palace, Watford and Manuel Pellegrini’s City side.
England striker Harry Kane has scored 16 times in the Premier League this season and has found the net in four of his last five appearances.
Former City defender Mills believes Tottenham are favourites for the title given their defensive solidarity so far this season.
“I’m sticking my neck on the line and tipping Tottenham to win the Premier League,” Mills told Sportlobster.
“There’s always something with Arsenal that makes you have doubts. Spurs, defensively, are very sound and as I’ve mentioned before, Pochettino is an excellent man-manager but also an astute tactician. He’s gone three at the back at times to negate the likes of Watford who play with two up front and has developed a very strong, stable squad who are all playing for each other.”
“Harry Kane is ticking along nicely and backing him up in attack is Son who I like the look of a lot. And of course Dele Alli… What a phenomenal talent he’s turned out to be. His performances have been absolutely outstanding and has to be part of Roy Hodgson’s plans for the summer.
“The great thing about Spurs is that they have the talent of the top teams mixed with Leicester’s refreshing naivety. Sometimes the pressure comes from having failed before (look at the England team for countless examples). Tottenham have never failed before in the modern era, they’ve never been close enough. Arsenal have and sometimes that can be your undoing.”
Mills added: “I might be biased because I’m a defender but you have to keep clean sheets to win titles. Spurs have only conceded 20 goals in 26 games and that’s why I’m backing them to go all the way. Every good team is built on a solid defence. Look at Mourinho’s Chelsea team last season. Success is born out of consistency at the back and Tottenham have that.
“With the relative failings of Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool this season, and with Man City losing more games than people would’ve expected, the most open Premier League title race since its inception has emerged and I’m still not sure whether that makes it the best Premier League ever or the worst but it’s definitely entertaining.”
Tottenham host Swansea City in their next Premier League game on Sunday 28 February before Spurs make the trip to bitter rivals Arsenal for a title showdown in the north London derby at The Emirates on Saturday 5 March.
