Manchester United line up experienced partner for Smalling

Manchester United have come in for plenty of criticism this season, but little of that has been
directed towards a defensive unit that has kept 15 clean sheets in 29 games in all competitions.
Things have taken a turn for the worse recently, however, with the Red Devils conceding at least two goals in four of their previous five matches, and reports in the Metro are now linking them with a January move for AC Milan’s Cristian Zapata.

CRISTIAN ZAPATA

The 29-year-old has fallen out of favour at AC Milan this season, featuring in just seven of their Serie A matches, but he has still been a regular for Colombia.
Most comfortable operating at the heart of the defence, Zapata has proven in the past that he can also do a job in either of the full-back positions.
Strong, uncompromising and quick across the ground, the 29-year-old has the potential to forge a very strong partnership with Chris Smalling at Old Trafford.
