The Daily Mail today reported that Chelsea had actually rejected a surprising €49 million (£35m) bid from Monaco for Mourinho’s services
Alessandro Proto – a
shareholder at Monaco – met with Roman Abramovich in London and offered
to pay out the Portuguese tactician’s contract, according to the report.
The
report did go on continue and claim that Abramovich would consider a
deal if the fee rose to a staggering £71m, according to a statement
by Proto Enterprises.
Monaco and Chelsea will now be hoping the speculation
comes to an end in order for both sides to focus on their progress on
the field.
Monaco went on their official twitter page to issue this statement
"AS Monaco would invite the media to not repeat extravagant and
unsubstantiated rumors from a « supposedly minority shareholder. » #THX"
