Manchester City Set To Beat Arsenal In Race For Argentine Striker

Man City Boss Manuel Pellegrini will reignite his interest in Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa, according to reports in todays Mirror (via the Express).

Pellegrini tried to sign Correa from his former club San Lorenzo, but the deal failed to materialise as the striker opted for a move to Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid in 2014.

Correa, 20, has also been a target for Arsenal in the past according to the report, but Correa shunned them as well, as he set his sights on Spain’s La Liga.

With star striker Sergio Aguero currently out injured, Pellegrini will try and bring in another forward to the Etihad as the Citizens continue their pursuit of the Premier League and Champions League this season.

The deal for Correa would reportedly be in the region of 8 million pounds, but it looks as if Man City will be assessing the deal closely come January.

The Argentine forward has made three appearances for the national team this year and has found the back of the net on one occasion.
