"We were doing better recently and we really wanted to avoid a defeat at Sassuolo," Buffon told Italian TV station Mediaset. "We are all very disappointed with how we played in the first half.
"We all played badly. The first half was simply unacceptable. We did better in the second half but it was still not good enough for a team like Juve.
"I am shocked and as captain, it hurts to see the team dominated in that manner.
Juventus had Giorgio Chiellini sent off in the midweek defeat to Sassuolo
"We wear the Juve jersey and we must do it justice."
Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri took full responsibility for his team's latest loss and hopes they can make amends this weekend.
"I am the first to be responsible," Allegri said. "We need to get out of this situation by working together as a team.
"We will prepare for Saturday's game before focusing on the Champions League."
