Liverpool scouts were present at the Estadio Do Dragao on Tuesday night to watch 18-year-old midfielder Ruben Neves.
Reports from The Mirror suggest Liverpool have made an informal approach in recent weeks, with the race for Neves really heating up.Neves is a reported target for a host of Europe’s’ top club sides, and is set for a January departure from FC Porto.
The Portugal Under-21 international made history in the Champions League this week, becoming the youngest player to ever captain a side in the competition.
Porto ran out 2-0 winners against Israeli outfit Maccabi Tel Aviv on Tuesday, a result that meant Porto top group G with three games gone.
Neves is expected to make the step up to the Portuguese national side ahead of the European Championship’s in France next summer.
Having been a part of Porto’s youth side since 2005, Neves endured a brief loan spell away from the club, but since his return to Porto in 2014, he has progressed in to an impressive central midfielder.
